The Contact Zones: Far East is an international residential artist exchange programme that was run by the Zarya Center for Contemporary Art (Vladivostok) from 2018 to 2020, and facilitated the exchange of artists, curators and researchers between the Zarya CCA and its partner institutions in the Asia-Pacific region include: HOW Art Museum (Shanghai), Para Site (Hong Kong), MNG 360° (Ulaanbaatar), Points Center for Contemporary Art (Kunshan), Paradise (Tokyo).
The new edition, Contact Zones: Azov, Black and Caspian Seas, is designed to facilitate cross-institutional exchanges for arts professionals from the neighbouring countries: Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Iran and others. The main goals of Contact Zones are cultural exchange, international collaboration and research into historical context and art of the region.
As part of this programme, participants from partner residences travel to Golubitskoe Art Residency, while Russian artists and curators are accepted into a residency overseas.
